Our friends over at Becoming Minimalist have just released a new app to help people declutter their homes. We’re big fans of Becoming Minimalist and promote a lot of Joshua’s work here at No Sidebar.
The Clutterfree App is something we were going to share with you because of what it does. But when we knew we were going to be included in it, we couldn’t wait to share the news with you.
What is the Clutterfree app?
As announced on Becoming Minimalist, Clutterfree is the first app on the market to create a personalized, step-by-step roadmap to declutter your home.
I’ve seen the other “decluttering apps” that are available. Most of them just help you sell stuff, while the others only offer generic decluttering advice.
But Clutterfree is different. You select the different rooms in your home (even naming them if you want) and identify the decluttering difficulty of each. When you do, Clutterfree crafts a specific roadmap for you to work through decluttering your home—easiest to hardest.
Each room includes 10-12 specific to-do items that you check off as you progress through the spaces in your home.
Along the way, you collect achievements, track progress, document donations, even capture before/after photos of all the spaces in your home to keep you motivated and checking back on your progress. It really is an impressive tool.
How are we involved?
The Clutterfree App contains an ever-increasing number of “Bonus Plans” that are written and submitted by organizing professionals around the world. The plans are focused on different topics or decluttering strategies.
For example, there is a Bonus Plan for organizing paperwork, decluttering books, a Spring Cleaning checklist, even a plan for simplifying your laundry.
Our email course (30 Days to a Simpler Life) is included as one of the Bonus Plans in the app. The No Sidebar email course inspires and encourages you to design a simple life by focusing on digital, financial, home, mind, and work simplicity. We’ve sold the course for $20 for the last several years.
But when the opportunity arose for us to include it in the Clutterfree App, we jumped at the chance. We knew it would be a great opportunity to encourage tens of thousands of people to find more simplicity in their life.
How much is the Clutterfree app?
I should make a point to mention that Clutterfree is not a free app.
The app is free for anyone to download and use for 7 days. That trial period may not be enough time to declutter your entire home, but it is designed to give you time to see if the app will be helpful to you long-term.
If you find the app helpful to you in decluttering your home (which it is), the monthly subscription is $5.99 (USD). If you think you are going to need the app for more than a few months, there is a discount for longer subscriptions.
But if you can declutter most of your home in 6-8 weeks, you wouldn’t need the app for more than a few months. Even subscribing to the app for 3 months would still be less expensive than paying $20 (USD) for the email course through No Sidebar.
The app is available for both Android and Apple products in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Worldwide distribution, we hear, is coming soon.
Who is the app for?
As you might expect, the Clutterfree App is designed specifically for people who want help owning less, and decluttering their homes.
If you are already living a minimalist life, the app probably won’t help you very much. But if you’re somebody who is wanting a new approach to decluttering, I highly recommend at least checking out the Clutterfree app for 7 days. We’re proud to be part of it.
As many of us are spending more time safe at home these days, I can’t think of a better time for it to be released.
