It’s 2016, and you’ve probably seen a number of “What’s your one word?” posts circulating around social media and the Internet. And it’s for good reason. The beginning of the year is a great time to make resolutions and an excuse to “make the change” you’ve been inevitably blowing off for months.
Here at No Sidebar, our “one word” for 2016 is … DEEPER.
You might be wondering why it’s not “simpler” or “less” and the answer is well, simple. I feel as though we’ve spent the past year talking about that and I think it’s time for more.
Not more “stuff” mind you, but more “life” and more “happiness” — which is something I’ve been fired up about for a while now, and I’m honestly thrilled to see what the next year holds for our community. But in order to take the next step in 2016, we need to have a plan, which I’d like to share with all of you.
I’m a huge believer in living intentionally, and truly an advocate of the idea that the journey is the reward. I think there is a tremendous amount of substance found within the little things in life, and that is where I want to live deliberately — where I want us all to live deliberately.
“Deeper” goes beyond truth and authenticity, it reaches a place where our fears exist. Where the battles are to be fought and the consequences are higher than ever before. This is where victory is to be won and life is to be found.
As we take steps toward the minimalist lifestyle, it isn’t enough to simply do what we’re told and just remove things from our lives. What we really need to do is understand how we got there, and how we can get back.
“Deeper” doesn’t mean less simple, or more complex. In fact, it opens our lives up and frees us to experience more. I think that is one thing we can all agree we are striving for — in 2016, and well beyond that.
So I ask you to trust where we’re going, and encourage you to be a part of something special — something I believe will continue to grow and something I don’t think you want to miss out on.
Now that I’ve shared a little about the direction we’re headed, let’s take a moment and look back at the past year we’ve had at No Sidebar.

What to Expect
As we head into 2016, we have a lot of special plans for growth. One of those ideas is to open up the opportunity for community members to spread their message by writing for us. We already have some new writers that will make their debut this month, which is something I’m very thrilled about.
In addition to that, we’ll be be placing more emphasis on The Simple Five, which should hopefully make finding content here at No Sidebar easier.
We’re also considering the addition of a “Daily Notes” newsletter, which will contain small bits of inspiration delivered to your inbox each morning. If that happens, we promise to keep it short — because No Sidebar.
Lastly, we’re in the process of working on some smaller ideas such as “Shareables” and a No Sidebar “Lookbook.” More on that real soon.
All in all, I love what we’re doing, and love that you are a part of the journey. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, contact us and let us know.
Thanks for being a valued part of our community.
P.S. Don’t miss out, and take the next step by signing up for our free weekly newsletter below. I promise you won’t regret it. Pinky swear.
